1. The player insures a play.
Right after they back it, the player adds Play Insurance for a small premium. That premium is yours.
2. The play settles.
If it comes in, the player collects as normal. If it loses, the model measures how close it came, reading live match statistics.
3. Money goes back to the player.
Every losing insured play pays something back. The closer it came, the more comes back. The player stays on your platform and plays again.
Premiums are income on top of the volume you already take. That is the difference between this and a promotion: one earns, the other spends.
You set the target margin on the pool. Refunds come out of what is left after it, so your margin holds on every pool.
It runs as its own layer, and your core markets are priced and traded exactly as they are today.

Will this cannibalise Cash Out or our promotions?
No. Cash Out is the player choosing to exit mid-match. Play Insurance is protection they add after backing a play, and it pays out if the play loses. A player can cash out and keep the insurance in play. Two safety nets on one play, and you earn on both.
Our players will not buy insurance.
Then do not sell it as insurance. Sell it as money coming back when a play loses. It lands at the exact moment players normally stop.
Does it change how we price and trade?
No. Play Insurance runs as its own layer over a bi-directional API. You send anonymous player and play data, and receive the offer and refund amounts back. Your core markets are untouched.
